1st- Pyrrha Cortese, 18, Gladiator (5 Kills)
Released
Pyrrha was tired. Everything that she had ever expected from herself was over. She had never made plans for what would happen after, and it turns out that it was just as well she didn’t. Pyrrha was nothing special to the people of Panem and she was soon all but forgotten. After being offered jobs in many amazing places, including working for the Game Master himself, Pyrrha chose to take a training job at the Academy. For ten years she worked tirelessly with the potential Gladiators, until one day she simply left and never came back. Head Trainer Ayres sent people after her, but no one ever found her again. Students rumoured that she had run away to work for the Game Master, or took a job with the President, but no one would ever know for sure where the so called perfect Gladiator ended up.
Released
Hesitantly,
Quentin too chose to return to District Zero with Ingo Arvallian. After their
escape just mere months after they had been assigned their rooms, they began to
build. With the help of others who had escaped from District Zero they began to
spin a rebellion. More and more people joined them- escapees, Victors, and Peacekeepers
alike. They staged small scale movements with the help of their people inside
the fences of Zero. They told people what the Hunger Games were. They preached
to the people of other districts and showed them what District Zero really was.
The rebellion was growing, but this was never going to be an easy journey for
them. Not with the Game Master standing on the other side, waiting for them to
make one wrong move.
3rd-
Odin Jurado, 18, Gladiator (3 Kills)
Killed by
Quentin Reiss
If losing
Eros was a pill to swallow, then losing Odin was complete heartbreak for the
Academy. Everyone knew Odin; he was the one that got along with everyone from
peers to new students to trainers. Even the Head Trainer, though he had always
suspected Odin might crack in the arena, hung his head as he signed the
cremation order. Odin was cremated quickly after returning to the Capitol and
his urn, along with his Gladiator ring, were placed in a gallery where he would
be forever admired for his bravery.
4th-
Micah Theron, 18, Sector B (0 Kills)
Killed by Odin
Jurado
As much as
Xavian hated to admit it, he missed Micah more than anyone. After Crispin told
him what happened, he nearly beat the shit out of Crispin himself for not
putting up more of a fight for Micah. Xavian knew the horror stories about the
recons very well, hell he’d made a few of them up himself, and he knew that
whatever was in store for Micah wasn’t good. The rebellious troublemaker drew
inward so far that no one, not even Crispin or Graham’s boys could get a rise
out of him. Micah always thought that he needed Xavian but as it turns out
Xavian needed him just as much.
5th-
Klay Deravel, 18, Sector E (1 Kill)
Killed by Pyrrha
Cortese
Klay was
wrong; his family never thought he was dead at all. Worse than that, they
thought he had simply left them. Despite his fiery love for his sister it
wasn’t uncommon for him to leave them for days on end without a word as to
where he was going. After several weeks, even little Tova believed that her big
brother had left her for good. It wasn’t until her mother got ill that Tova
ventured out of the barracks to search for Klay. She spent weeks looking
through every alley, enduring every ill word that passerbys would throw at her,
until she was lured in by a crew boy who took a liking to her brown curls.
6th-
Valora Cordett, 18, Sector F (0 Kills)
Killed by Klay
Deraval
Niklaus was
more than upset after Valora failed to meet up with him, again. Days went by
and he still hadn’t heard from her, but that wasn’t too unusual for her. After a
week he became worried. After two he didn’t know whether to be infuriated that
she’d written him off or devastated that something might have happened. He chose
the first one, because it gave him no guilt in the matter. He couldn’t have
done anything to stop her from leaving, is what he told himself. He was never
too sure if he believed it because the empty feeling never quite went away, but
he told himself he did.
7th-
Everett Montclair, 15, Sector H (0 Kills)
Killed by Quentin
Reiss
Everett was
likely the only tribute whose life became more bearable after he was abducted.
In District Zero he had no one, not even one single person to miss him, but
Panem remembered him. In his time in the arena he became everything he wanted
to be- he became someone that people notice. Panem ate up every move he made,
and replays of him broadcasted across the nation even years after his death. Everett
got everything he ever wanted out of life. It would have hardly mattered that
he had to give his life to get it. His life was never worth living anyway.
8th-
Ingo Arvallian, 18, Sector C (1 Kill)
Released
After a week
of interviews and functions to attend with Quentin Reiss and Pyrrha Cortese,
Ingo chose to return to District Zero. It was a shock to almost everyone,
because out of all of the wonderful places he could have gone he went there.
Quentin Reiss also chose to be placed in District Zero, though the two were
sorted into different sectors. Their plan, the one that they had whispered
about while the night nurses slept, began. They spread rumours through their
sectors, stuffed notes through holes in the fences, and eventually they
escaped. The two of them lived in the forests surrounding Zero for four months,
meeting others that too had escaped Zero. They began to reach out to other
Victors through the Peacekeepers that had helped them escape. The Blood
Children’s journey began.
9th-
Eros Abner, 18, Gladiator (4 Kills)
Killed by
Ingo Arvallian
Head Trainer
Ayres was notably the most affected by Eros’ failure. He had taken the boy
under his wing a few years ago and truly believed that he would have what it
takes to be a Gladiator, even took steps off the book to make it happen. He
never expected those boys to overtake his protégé, but they did. Seneca Ayres
could have taken on the blame, but instead he separated himself from Eros’
name. The next one would be better, he told himself and years later his next
favourite made Seneca so proud he forgot Eros’ name completely.
10th-
Alanis Marcham, 14, Sector H (0 Kills)
Killed by
Eros Abner
Corin found
out quickly why Alanis never met with him that day; word travels fast through
the network he keeps. He pitied the girl, but could do nothing more for the
girl he knew as Elise. He got a new girl, one that looked oddly similar to her,
and he promised himself he would be much kinder to this one. Alanis faded from
his mind by the end of the year, and the rest of the district hardly remembered
that she was still missing.
11th-
Ronan Traupelle, 17, Sector G (0 Kills)
Killed by
Mutts
Ronan’s two
younger siblings- Ashlyn and Fallon- took his disappearance the hardest. His mother
hid her tears from the family after Jeremy came to them with news that Ronan
had been abducted, but her daughters heard the sobs. Ashlyn retreated into
herself, becoming so withdrawn from the world that she hardly spoke a word each
day. Fallon, on the other hand, projected her sadness outward as anger. By
sixteen she had been taken in by one of the strongest crews in Sector G. By
seventeen she was dead, killed during a brawl with a rival crew. Her twin
sister and mother barely got by after that, but they survived even after the
law change killed most of their neighbours and friends.
12th-
Demetra Van Sant, 16, Sector I (1 Kill)
Killed by Pyrrha
Cortese
Garth mourned
his best friend since the day she was taken. Unlike Demetra, Garth had heard of
the recons and he knew all the stories. After being taken by them no one ever
comes back. Still, Garth held onto some hope that she would come back because
if anyone could do it it was Demetra. A week after she was taken and Garth
finally faced the truth that he would never see her again. Demetra’s old crew
came back for Garth again and again, but this time no one stood in their way.
13th-
Cadria Arias, 17, Sector A (0 Kills)
Killed by Odin
Jurado
Liam,
Cadria’s best friend in District Zero, spent years looking for her after she
didn’t come home that day. Information got back to him that the recons had
taken her, but he refused to believe it. He demanded answers from passing
Peacekeepers and was given multiple more infractions on his record for
disturbing the peace. He didn’t care, there was nothing they could do to stop
his search for his friend. Nothing until the law changed before the 235th
Hunger Games, when Liam was executed alongside many others at the age of
thirty-two.
14th-
Blair Myles, 18, Sector J (0 Kills)
Killed by Eros
Abner
District Zero
was not changed in Blair’s absence. Her bed was filled by another unlucky girl
who has just moved to the district, and unlike Blair she made fast friends with
her roommates. By the time that she died, the other girls had all but forgotten
Blair’s name. On the other side of Panem in District Two, her younger sister
clung to a distraught father who would wonder for the rest of his life what he
could have done differently that might have saved her.
15th-
Decker Vanes, 15, Sector F (0 Kills)
Killed by
Electrocution
Word of the
stunt that happened at the mountain during Decker’s abduction spread like
wildfire through Sector F. It was the first time that the people felt like they
could do something about the unfairness, even if they didn’t win. Rebellion
movements picked up speed throughout the sector, making it a hotspot for
arrests, and later executions, after the laws changed. Pina and Lock were both thirty
at the time of their arrest. Both of them painted Decker’s name in coal across
their chests on the day of their executions.
16th-
Griffin Mastiff, 16, Sector D (0 Kills)
Killed by
Infection
After hearing
about his brother’s stunt in the cafeteria, Alek ran all around the sector
trying to find him and prove that he wasn’t actually gone. He asked everyone
who would stop if they’d seen him, and after a while Alek began to piece
together the pieces of Griffin’s life that he’d kept hidden. He found out about
Alder and, against his better judgement, walked straight into the crew house to
confront him. Some say that Alek had been looking for a fight and they never
meant to hurt him as badly as they did, but no matter the reason Alek didn’t
leave the crew house alive that night.
17th-
Leighton Shaller, 18, Sector C (0 Kills)
Killed by
Pyrrha Cortese
Though she
didn’t think she would, Leighton did end up with two people who would remember
her forever. While her father figured she was just somewhere around the sector
like she had been for years without visiting him, her two former allies knew
the dark truth. Ingo and Quentin would spend the rest of their lives thinking
of her, even giving her a special name in their new Victor society. Sinew, she
would now be called, because she was the one that first held them together. The
Blood Children would only hear whispers of Leighton’s legacy, but Sinew would
never be forgotten.
18th-
Kaelyn Powell, 13, Sector D (0 Kills)
Killed by
Eros Abner
Ylia and
Carmichael missed the little waitress that had run around their work since she
learned how. Even as the days turned into weeks and the weeks turned into
months the bar never quite returned to normal. There was always a little touch
of something missing and everyone knew that something was Kaelyn. The regulars
who worked as Peacekeepers were banned from entering the building after a few
months on a particularly drunken night and eventually Carmichael was forced to
close the doors of the technically illegal business.
19th-
Aislinn Keymar, 18, Sector B (0 Kills)
Killed by
Odin Jurado
Keia,
Aislinn’s mother, was distraught after seeing her only family taken away from
her so quickly. Her grief was pardoned for a few days, but quickly others grew
tired of Keia’s antics. She was fired on the day of Aislinn’s death and, though
she couldn’t possibly have known what had happened to her daughter, Keia was
inconsolable on that day. Keia’s room was taken and given to another family
while she was moved into a room with three other women around her age. Years
later and Keia has not touched another valuable lest the memories of Aislinn
overwhelm her.
20th-
Alastair Caine, 17, Sector I (0 Kills)
Killed by
Eros Abner
Despite what
everyone would expect, Alastair died happy in that arena. For his entire life
eh had hoped for something bigger than District Zero and he had seen it in the
Capitol. He had no one to leave behind except his mother, who was little more
than a stranger in his life. The day that those recons took him away was
arguably the best day of his life because he got away. Against all odds,
Alastair didn’t rot in District Zero and that was enough for him.
21st-
Shaera Hanslok, 18, Sector G (0 Kills)
Killed by
Pyrrha Cortese
Shaera
appeared to be dearly missed by the friends she had made in Sector G, but as
Shaera always proved appearances couldn’t be trusted. Her friends were not so
gullible as she thought, in fact they quickly realized after speaking with one
another that Shaera was the common denominator to all of their issues around
the sector. Outwardly they grieved to those that had seen Shaera taken by the
recons, but so far inside that they barely realized it themselves they wished
she had been taken earlier.
22nd-
Topher Darosa, 12, Sector J (0 Kills)
Killed by
Pyrrha Cortese
Topher’s
mother was left behind in tears after they took her son. She kept close to the
door for nearly a week, hoping that he would come back to her but he never did.
She didn’t know who the recons were or why they took him, but she became
paranoid that they would come for her too. She barricaded her door shut and ate
only the little bits of food left in their room. Weeks later, when Peacekeepers
forced open her door for a routine check, they found that she had starved to
death days earlier.
23rd-
Eloise Bailey, 15, Sector E (0 Kills)
Killed by
Demetra Van Sant
As soon as
Eloise was taken, Kalea ran upstairs to tell Isaac and Ihsan. The two had been
planning on casting Eloise out of their little information business for her own
safety, but all thoughts of that were gone as soon as they heard the news. The boys
took off as fast as they could but, of course, they were far too late to find
her. The three of them believed that she had been taken in for the things they’d
had her do, and the guilt was impossible to handle. Isaac parted ways with Ihsan
only a week after Eloise was taken. Ihsan spent weeks on the lookout for Isaac
but he never saw his friend again. Rumour has it that losing his sister was too
much and he took his own life.
